Biodegradable Composites with Functional Properties Containing Biopolymers

There is a major focus on natural biopolymers of bacterial, animal, or plant origin as ecological materials, replacing petrochemical products. Biologically derived polylactide (PLA), polyhydroxybutyrate (PHB), and polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA) possess interesting properties, but they are currently too expensive for most applications. Therefore, researchers try to find other that both durable cheap enough replace plastics in some One possible candidate gelatin, which can be transformed into thin, translucent film flexible has stable high mechanical properties. Here, we present method synthesizing composite material from gelatin. For preparation such material, used gelatin animal (pig skin) with the addition casein, food glycerin, enzymes biocatalysts chemical modification further extraction collagen. Compositions forming films homogeneous shapes good properties were selected (Tensile strength reaches 3.11 MPa, while highest value elongation at break 97.96%). After administering samples microbial scaring, composites completely decomposed under action microorganisms within 30 days, proves their biodegradation.
